“why do I and everyone I love pick people who treat us like we’re nothing?”

“we accept the love we think we deserve”

“She was awkward. She couldn’t get out of her own way. She wasn’t disciplined, and she was often late but there was a sort of magic about her which we all recognized at once… Her phobias, or whatever they were, came later; she seemed just a carefree kid, and she owned the whole world.”

“You have to put up with the risk of being misunderstood if you are going to try to communicate. You have to put up with people projecting their own ideas, attitudes, misunderstanding you. But it’s worth being a public fool if that’s all you can be in order to communicate yourself.” - Edie Sedgwick (April 20, 1943 -November 16, 1971)
